Fall 2019 Newsletter

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Domestic violence affects women, men and children, of every race, religion, culture and status.

In the U.S. 1.3 million women and 835,000 men are victims of physical violence by a partner every year.

Three out of four Americans personally know someone who is or has been a victim of domestic violence.

Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women between the ages of 15 and 44 in the US – more than car accidents, muggings, and rapes combined.

Victims Resource  Center (VRC) will provide training on screening for domestic violence to the emergency room staff at Tyler Memorial Hospital.

In order to raise awareness in our community, VRC will conduct outreach to providers that work daily with survivors of domestic violence.  We will also recognize these providers for the support and services they have provided to survivors.
