Speak Out – Summer ’17

Victims Resource Center presents hundreds of Child Safety programs each year to children in pre-school through second grades. These programs empower children to say “No!” to inappropriate touches and to tell an adult if someone tries to touch them in a way that makes them uncomfortable.
While these programs are important, they are not enough. We recognize that adults must take responsibility for protecting children and preventing child sexual abuse. To help parents develop skills to prevent abuse, Victims Resource Center is collaborating with the Wilkes-Barre City Health Department to offer Parents in the Know.

Speak Out – Spring ’17

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. It is a time to call attention to the fact that sexual violence is widespread and impacts every person in this community. Rape, sexual assault, and sexual harassment harm our community, and statistics show one in five women and one in 71 men will be raped at some point in their lives.

“NO MORE” Pledge Signing at LCCC

In response to such statistics, on Luzerne County Community College’s main campus Thursday, April 14, 2016 volunteers worked to raise awareness and start the discussion on domestic violence and sexual assault. With April being Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the event was part of the NO MORE campaign with the goal of starting the conversation to make a change by raising awareness and engaging bystanders to help end the violence.
